AgrSAT: Innovative curriculum in smart AGRIculture through SATellite and remote sensing data in SEA
Funding entity: Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Reference 617766-EPP-1-2020-1-BE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP
Period: From 01/15/2021 to 01/14/2024
Project coordinator: Vrije Universiteit Brussel
The aim of this project is to create an innovative curriculum in smart agriculture by integrating the latest GIS / remote sensing (RS) technology. Integrated remote sensing with wireless sensors implemented in a GIS environment can provide valuable information (soil moisture, crop phenology, nutrient deficiencies, crop diseases, pests, etc.) for innovative crop management in the countries of the SEA (Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia), whose economies are highly dependent on primary production and with a predominantly rural population. The project improves the concept of smart agriculture with the use of an information and technology-based agricultural management system to improve the efficiency of crop production by adjusting agricultural inputs to the specific conditions within each area of a field.
